Building on our work with the Office for National Statistics (ONS) and measurement & evaluation frameworks, we are committed to developing robust health and economic metrics that demonstrate the value of prevention and health creation. Our work together on the ONS Health Index aligns with the ambitions of the Government’s 10-Year Health Plan and the growing recognition of the importance of the ‘exposome’ — the totality of environmental threats, external stressors and social determinants that shape our health and ageing trajectory across the lifecourse.
We are focussed on:
1. Prevention and Early Intervention We develop health and economic metrics, evaluation frameworks, and corporate programmes that prove the value of prevention—from musculoskeletal health to chronic disease risk reduction.
2. Reducing Health Inequalities Through regional mission-led testbeds, we work with Integrated Care Boards and local partners to track inequalities, measure impact in deprived areas, and mobilise businesses to invest in workforce wellbeing.
3. Healthy Ageing and Longevity We translate research on ageing and the exposome—the totality of life’s environmental and social influences—into practical initiatives, supporting people to stay healthier and active for longer.
4. Integrated Care and Local Empowerment We equip ICBs and local authorities with the data, metrics, and cross-sector partnerships needed to deliver targeted improvements in population health and economic outcomes.
5. Workforce and Economic Productivity We make the case for health as economic infrastructure, demonstrating how investment in workforce health drives resilience, growth, and national prosperity.
